WhatsApp  to launch 'Communities' and other group  chat features

Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp announced the launch of the Communities feature to bring people closer.

The company shared:

"Since WhatsApp launched in 2009, we've been focused on how we can help people have the next best thing to an in-person conversation when they want to talk to an individual or a group of friends or family."

Communities will enable WhatsApp users to participate in larger discussion groups.

It would offer powerful new tools to the admin like hosting multiple sub-groups and announcement messages.

WhatsApp believes that many group chats will transition to the more structured Communities when the feature launches.

Alongside Communities, the company also announced other group features that will roll out in the coming weeks (before Communities are ready).
