The European Union shared a Statement of Objections on Monday criticizing Apple for restricting NFC technology on the iPhone to Apple Pay.
Bloomberg's report revealed that PayPal was one of the many companies that helped spur a formal antitrust complaint against Apple and its payments system.
For the uninitiated, NFC was first launched with iPhone 6 and was limited to Apple Pay.In 2017, Apple partially allowed developers to access the iPhone's NFC chip. But excluded payment apps from using this API.
This year, Apple announced Tap to pay for iPhone. But this feature is limited to Apple's native payments system. Thus, preventing third-party apps from offering their NFC payment solutions.

Well, Apple is likely to face many such challenges in the future.
If the tech-giant wishes to get rid of these antitrust allegations, it should ease restrictions on developers.
However, it doesn't seem that Apple would give in this easily. So, all we can do is wait and watch!
