Accessibility features on the iPhone are powerful and useful. One such option enables you to turn ON the camera LED to flash when you get a call or notification. This is especially helpful if you have a problem with hearing. Similarly, this feature is also useful when you do not want to miss a notification while your device is in silent mode or with ringtone volume set very low. In these situations, the LED light flashes and lets you know about an incoming call or notification. Let us see how to switch it ON.
How to Turn ON LED Notification Light for Calls and Texts on iPhone
Step #1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone.
Step #2. Scroll down and tap on Accessibility.
Step #3. Now tap on Audio/Visual.
Step #4. From under VISUAL, turn on the toggle for LED Flash for Alerts.
Here you also have the option to turn ON or OFF the LED flash alerts for silent mode. If you want the light to flash in Silent mode, keep the Flash on Silent toggle ON and if you do not wish to flash light alerts in silent mode then turn this toggle OFF.
In message and other notifications, there are five quick flashes and for calls, the LED light continues flashing until the ring ends or you silent the phone.
Note:
- If you have set Text Tone or New Mail tone as none under Sounds & Haptics, you won’t see the LED flash notification when you receive an iMessage or email
- The LED flashes only when your iPhone is locked
- Further, LED Flash for alerts is also available for iPad Pro models introduced in 2016 or after that
Wrapping up…
I first saw this in 2014 on one of my friend’s iPhone 5, which had this feature turned ON. LED flashing on calls and notifications appeared so cool! I was using an Android phone at that time, and I wished for this on my device, which I later got by downloading an app from the Play Store. Even if you don’t have any problem with hearing, you would like to use this feature of enabling LED flash alerts.
