I’ve always been a fan of motorsports and have played numerous racing games on my PC. However, a few years ago, there was a lack of good racing games for mobile devices. Fortunately, there are many racing games to try on your phone. From simulation racers to arcade racing games, here’s my list of the best racing games for the iPhone.
1. Real Racing 3 – Editor’s choice
Real Racing 3 is one of the most popular racing games on the App Store, and for a good reason. Ever since its release, it’s been constantly refined to provide the best experience to the players.
The game features 40 different tracks from 19 locations all over the world. Moreover, there are 250 real cars to choose from. These include the likes of Porsche, Bugatti, Audi, and other famous car manufacturers.
Since the gameplay and graphics are so detailed and meticulously refined, I’d recommend you to acquire a good gaming controller to experience this game at its best. Moreover, it’ll give you more control over your racing experience as you battle for the top spot.
Real Racing 3 is a racing simulator for all types of players.
Price: Free (In-app purchases start at $1.99)
2. Asphalt 9: Legends – Best arcade racing game
The Asphalt series has been the frontrunner for the best arcade racing games you can find on your iPhone. With Asphalt 9: Legends, it cements the series’ legacy.
The game features a range of hypercars to choose from, all from real-world car manufacturers such as Lamborghini and Ferrari. It features real-world locations but with a twist. There are innumerable and unbelievable stunts to perform as you attempt to win the race against the best arcade racers in the world.
Swing with the help of a tornado to gain some momentum or jump across an 80-meter wide canyon to get the adrenaline pumping. Asphalt 9: Legends has the most outrageous and entertaining racing experience you can find today.
Price: Free (In-app purchases start at $1.99)
3. CSR2 – Most realistic car racing game
CSR2 was initially praised mostly for its graphics when it was released. Since then, multiple gameplay improvements have been made to make it one of the most realistic racing simulators you can find for handheld devices.
From the 1960s to the 1990s, you can get your virtual hands on the best cars of each generation. Collect and customize them to your heart’s content. The game has a feature called “Legends workshop,” allowing you to restore these classic cars to their former glory.
On the gameplay side of things, you can tune almost everything. Whether it’s the tire pressure or gear ratios, you can change settings to suit your playstyle. Moreover, you will have to experiment and find the right settings when you play online as the races are highly competitive.
On the lookout for a racing simulator that pushes boundaries? Play CSR2.
Price: Free (In-app purchases start at $1.99)
4. Riptide GP: Renegade – Best offline racing game
Riptide GP: Renegade isn’t your usual racing game. It doesn’t feature hyper-realistic cars or track locations from around the world. Instead, here you race against other players on your hydro-powered jet.
This is another arcade racer for players looking for something slightly different. In the single-player, you’ve been forced out of the Riptide GP league and forced to make your name through illegal races. This gives an NFS: Most Wanted vibe to the game. Instead of dodging cops through tunnels, you dodge them through waterways.
Play through the single-player to unlock numerous upgrades. A better jet implies that you can perform more death-defying tricks at breakneck speeds. The fact that the tracks are on the water and not on the road gives this game more creative freedom.
You can also play the game online with up to 8 players for the ultimate water racing experience.
Price: $2.99
5. Mario Kart Tour – Fun racing game
While you may be looking at more realistic racing games to download, give Mario Kart Tour a try. It isn’t the typical racing game with real-world cars, but there’s a reason why it’s one of the most popular racing games on the App Store.
Mario Kart has been a fun game for parties for an extensive time. However, not everyone has a Nintendo console as their gaming setup. In such cases, Mario Kart Tour on mobile is an excellent substitute.
The racing mechanics remain solid, and in addition to the classic Mario Kart tracks, you also get racing tracks inspired by different cities worldwide. These race tracks change and rotate after every two weeks to bring something new to the table.
Mario Kart Tour is a fun-filled game, even if you’re into simulation racing games.
Price: Free (In-app purchases start at $1.99)
6. DATA WING – Unique racing game
DATA WING isn’t your typical racing game. At first, it might seem rudimentary, but its aesthetic and gameplay will win you over.
The story is simple. You’re a DATA WING, and your job is to keep communication between the different systems. However, the main system comes under attack, leading to irrational behavior. Now, it’s up to you to ensure that the system gets back to running in the proper order.
The gameplay is sleek, with neon-inspired visuals and catchy soundtracks. There are 40 different levels to play through in the story mode, and you can also create custom tracks. You can also play against other players to see your name on the leaderboards.
DATA WING is unconventional, and you’ll love the game for it.

7. Dirt Bike Unchained – Must-play for bikers
Dirt Bike Unchained is a racing game for motocross lovers. If you love to try difficult stunts in dangerous locales, battling against the muddy track conditions, you should try this game.
The game has a large range of dirt bikes to try and master. You can also design your fantasy dirt bike and take it out for a virtual spin. Build your reputation as a rider from the Dust Eater to becoming the premier rider of Red Bull.
Dirt Bike Unchained also allows you to interact with real superstars of dirt bike racing, such as Tarah Geiger and Johnny Walker. Interacting with them in-game will teach you important skills to master every track.
