How to delete frequently visited sites in Safari on iPhone, iPad

Over the years, Apple’s Safari has added features to make browsing more intuitive and seamless. One such feature is the Frequently Visited section, which by default appears on Safari’s Start Page. While this is convenient, thumbnails of your most visited sites may not be something you want others to see. If privacy is an issue for you, you have the option to delete Frequently Visited sites in Safari on your iPhone or iPad.

Further, you can selectively remove sites displayed on the section on your iPad or iPhone’s Safari. Here’s everything you need to know.

How to turn off Frequently Visited sites from Safari on iPhone or iPad

    1. Launch Safari.
    2. Open a new tab in Safari by tapping the Tabs icon at the bottom right of the screen.
    3. Select the + plus sign on the toolbar’s left side to open a new tab and access the Start Page.

Launch Safari and tap tabs icon and select plus icon
    4. Scroll down and tap Edit → Toggle off Frequently Visited
    5. Tap the Exit (X) button at the top right to go back to the Start Page.

When planning a clandestine escape with your loved one or meticulously selecting the perfect gift for them, the last thing you want is for your iPhone or iPad to inadvertently divulge your plans by displaying the websites you’ve been visiting frequently. Such a slip-up could completely spoil the surprise you’ve been carefully planning.

An easy solution to prevent this is to get rid of frequently visited sites on Safari.

Another way of removing frequently visited sites is to clear the Safari history on your iPhone or iPad. Keeping your browsing history clear also ensures that nobody can check which sites you’ve visited recently.

    1. Launch Safari and tap the book icon at the bottom of the screen.
    2. Select the clock tab at the top right.
    3. Tap Clear on the lower right of the screen.

    Wrapping up…

While Safari’s Frequently Visited section provides convenient access to the sites you’ve recently browsed, its prominent display may not be ideal if you’re trying to keep your online activities private, especially when others might have access to your device.

Its visibility can inadvertently reveal your browsing habits, which is not always desirable, especially when planning surprises or conducting sensitive searches.
