At WWDC 2024, Apple unveiled the latest version of the Mac operating system, called macOS Sequoia. This version offers a host of new improvements, including the latest wallpapers and a suite of Apple Intelligence features coming later this fall. In addition to this, there’s a new iPhone Mirroring feature, a new Password app, Safari Highlights that allow users to summarize content on the web, and more.

While many of us expected Apple to ditch the lineup of the last few Intel-powered Macs, guess this isn’t happening this year — both Apple Silicon and older Intel Macs support macOS Sequoia. You can refer to the list given below to find out if your Mac will be getting the latest software update.

When will macOS Sequoia arrive on Mac?
macOS Sequoia 15 will become widely available on all supported Macs in September alongside iOS18, iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, and other software offerings. However, if you want to preview the latest features in macOS 15 Sequoia, you can install the macOS Sequoia developer beta starting today. Alternatively, if you don’t want to deal with the bugs and performance issues in developer betas, you can get your hands on the macOS Sequoia public beta, which will be available in July.

Except for the 2018 and 2019 MacBook Air with Intel’s 8th-gen CPUs, all the Macs that support macOS Sonoma also support macOS Sequoia. While that’s great news for those with older Intel Macs, it has its caveats. Only Apple Silicon Macs with a Neural Engine will support the new Apple Intelligence features when they become available alongside the iPhone 16 series in September.
