A journey down Apple’s logo lane

Over the years, Apple has gone through many changes. That's been reflected in its logo as well.  Let’s take a look at the evolution of the Apple’s logo timeline.

Isaac Newton logo

Ronald Wayne designed the first logo of Apple in 1976. In this, we can see Isaac Newton reading a book right before an apple dropped on his head.

Rainbow Apple logo

In 1977, Rob Janoff designed a rainbow-colored logo that included the Apple brand. The logo also introduced the bitten Apple. Jobs thought the original logo was hard to print on a smaller scale and too old-fashioned.

Removal of brand name

In 1984, the logo underwent minimal changes along with the removal of the brand name, thus making way for the logo we are familiar with today.

Revamped logo

On his return, Jobs wanted to revamp his company’s image. The logo was the first change in 1988, painting Apple as a luxury brand. The new logo also reflected Jobs’ love for skeuomorphism.

Aqua logo

With the introduction of macOS 10.1 in 2001, Apple introduced the aqua Apple logo.

Aluminum Apple logo

In 2007, Apple veered away from its glass-themed logo to a simple, flat aluminum design.

These were all the major changes in the Apple logo over the years. It continued to undergo minute changes to evolve into what we see today.
